Yes. That’s right. Two of my girlfriends and I hosted a Thai themed baby shower. It’s actually a cute story. The mommy-to-be April actually got pregnant on a trip to Thailand, so she and her huz nicknamed their wee-to-be the “Pad Thai Noodle.” 
We decided to just go with it and made the baby shower a Thai paradise. The funniest thing about it was though we knew April was calling her baby the Pad Thai Noodle, none of her family did… so when they got these invitations they were pretty puzzled! She got many calls inquiring about this Pad Thai Noodle baby and why it had this name. Mini oops! Still, the shower itself turned out fabulously!

I designed the invite using an elephant holding an umbrella (subtle “Thai Shower” reference) so we decorated using the same. Cost Plus World Market was the place for decor for this shower. The parasols and some of the elephants came from there and they have so many great imported items. It was hard to stop!
My brother randomly owns that big wood elephant, so I stole him for the party, turned a big wine storage box upside down for elevated food displaying, and the monstera leaves on the table are actually place mats from Pottery Barn. The leaves in the vases were plucked from my sister’s house. 
This was an afternoon shower so we kept the food light. My friend Kasey is an incredible cook so she whipped up a Thai chicken salad that we put in Chinese (or in this case let’s just say Thai!) take-out boxes and served with chopsticks. It was a hit!
Once again we did the “wishes for baby” cards. Such a hit! 
And no surprise here, diaper doodling strikes again!
This time we added a celebrity baby game as well. The winners took home bamboo kitchen tools.
There were also tons of wood elephant statues and orchids all around the house, but again – didn’t know then that I would have this blog now, so the photos of those details are burned into my brain only.
As a gift option for guests, some of us got together and bought April a fancy-schmancy stroller. I love the idea of group gifts because you can get something you definitely need (stroller, crib, etc.) but that not a person alone could afford on their own.
Quick side note: If you’re planning group gifts at showers in the future, you should really look into Groupit.com as a way to collect money. It’s a fabulous company and a great way to collect the funds without any awkward calls.
We sent each guest home with a pretzel bag and a smile on their face. It was a lovely day. And these days April’s Pad Thai Noodle is quite the stunning 7 month old baby girl.

This past spring I had the pleasure of working on a Rock Star themed baby shower invitation for my friend Amy. In searching for inspiration, I came across the genius in Jessica of Modern Moments Designs’ rock star party she threw for her son. It’s probably the best party I’ve ever seen! Go check it out!
Anyway, I looooooved everything about it and thought the stripes & fonts she chose were fabulous for the theme. I reinterpreted (ok! stole!) her ideas into a baby shower invitation complete with a rockin’ onesie that says “AB CD.”
Stripes, houndstooth, black and blue… looks like a rockin’ party to me!
